Otis Redding Foundation Presents  “Beyond The Notes” After School Program with Bibb County School District

The Music, Literacy, History, and Math After School Program Will Take Place at Ballard Hudson Middle School

MACON, GA-The Otis Redding Foundation is partnering with Bibb County School District to present a new after school program for students at Ballard Hudson Middle School. “Beyond The Notes” is an intensive look into the world of music, production and songwriting, aligned with history, math and literacy and is funded by the district's 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Grant. The program will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:05 p.m. to 6:05 p.m. with the first session starting on February 18, 2021, serving 20 students selected by the Bibb County School District. The program will be held virtually using BlueJeans by Verizon’s videoconferencing technology, with students collaborating and recording using Soundtrap by Spotify’s online studio service.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the school district to bring this incredible program to a wider audience of students,” says Karla Redding-Andrews, VP/Executive Director for the Otis Redding Foundation. “The more kids we can reach, the better!”

The Otis Redding Foundation produces such music and arts education programs as Otis Music Camp (ages 12-18), Camp DREAM (ages 5-11), We Write The Songs (ages 12-18), the DREAM Team performance group, and private lessons in guitar, voice, piano, engineering/producing, strings, and more at the Otis Redding Center for Creative Arts.

“The Otis Redding Foundation is a vital part in the history of music, not only in Macon, but around the world and we are excited to connect our students to this high level of musical talent,” says Dr. Janice Flowers, Ed.D., Director for Before and After School Programs for Bibb County School District.
