Otis Redding Foundation Premieres Original Song

“This Holiday”

Video will be released on the last evening of 12 Days of O’Tis

MACON, GA- The Otis Redding Foundation is excited to announce the release of “This Holiday” on Tuesday, December 22 across the organization’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube). The original song was written, produced, and performed by Otis Music Camp’s World Famous Rap Room. Campers James-Gregory “JGC Kool” Cubit, Elijah “Elife” Jackson, Christopher “Prxphecy” Timothy, Jordan Tolbert, Quíshön “QtheDreadhead” Weems, Dakarai “DKOMX” Williams, Jessica “Slim Pikins” Wornum, with their coach Vinson “ALäZ” Muhammad and Otis Redding Center for Creative Arts Director Kimberly Kelsey Epps, created the song working remotely using online music studio platform Soundtrap and video conferencing service BlueJeans by Verizon.

The song and video was produced as part of the Foundation’s “12 Days of O’Tis” and was directed by Ashley Gadson of No fl.ASH. Necessary on location in Downtown Macon. The theme reflects on 2020 and what this season means to the young campers. Unable to gather together due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the Rap Room came together virtually to create a new kind of holiday song, looking back on the tumultuous year but also feeling grateful for what we have and looking forward to the new year to come.

“Despite the trying times of 2020, above all else ‘This Holiday’ will be one dedicated to seeking guidance through these times and showing gratitude for the blessings in our lives,” says Otis Music Camp coach and producer Vinson Muhammad.

“I am constantly amazed by the talent of these young musicians,” says VP/Executive Director Karla Redding-Andrews. “And the work they put into this song is exemplary of what they are capable of and the many thoughts and feelings that they are dealing with this year.”

Watch the teaser for the video HERE and tune in at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22 on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram to see the full video.

Due to restrictions surrounding COVID-19, the Otis Redding Foundation’s annual holiday fundraiser, O’Tis The Season, was a virtual event, with 12 evenings of performances streamed nightly over social media during December 11-22 at 7 p.m. The event was made possible by the generous support of Georgia Power and Rhino Records.
