Ebony Brown Receives Mercer Law School's Otis Redding Scholarship

We are so excited to share the news that Ebony Brown has been awarded the Otis Redding Scholarship from Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law. Ms. Brown is an Atlanta native, born and raised in Jacksonville, Fla, where she attended Stanton College preparatory school. "It was living in rural Duval County when I first realized my dream to be the change I wanted to see n the world," writes Ms. Brown, who graduated from Howard University in 2013. "That moment gave me even more of a push to achieve my dreams because I was the first person in my family to go off to college and, in the same year, commit to pursuing a professional degree in legal studies."

Ms. Brown ranks in the top 10 percent of her class at Mercer Law, and serves as the Mercer Black Law Student Association (BLSA) Academic Chair, serving as a mentor, and implemented, fundraised, and provided an academic scholarship to one deserving BLSA first year student, and ran an academic enhancement program entitles, "The Talented Tenth," to help aide BLSA scholars to become member of the academic elite at Mercer Law School.

Currently, Ms. Brown is serving as the Student Writing Editor of the Mercer Law Review. "I hope to further utilize my leadership and mentorship abilities in this role next year," writes Ms. Brown. "To say the least, I have truly been involved in the development and progression of those within my law school community."
