DREAM Team Performs at Capricorn Opening Celebration

On December 3, 2019, the Otis Redding Foundation’s DREAM Team took part in the Mercer Music at Capricorn Grand Opening Celebration, alongside students from the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings and Capricorn recording artist Jimmy Hall. The event was part of a two-day lineup celebrating the revival and completion of the Capricorn project.

The building was originally purchased in 1967 by Otis Redding with Phil and Alan Walden and was slated to become the recording studio for Redding and other Redwall artists. The studio plans abruptly ended with Redding’s untimely death. Capricorn Recording Studios opened in 1969 and launched what became known as Southern Rock with the Allman Brothers, Wet Willie and more.

The DREAM Team performed a medley of Otis Redding’s “I’ve Got Dreams To Remember” and Aretha Franklin’s “Day Dreaming.” See the incredible performance below!
