BlueJeans and Dolby Donate Fully Integrated HD Web Conferencing Hardware to the Otis Redding Foundation
BlueJeans, a Silicon Valley based video conferencing company, and Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB), a company that creates audio and imaging technologies that transform entertainment and communications at the cinema, at home, at work and on mobile devices,
have donated a fully integrated room meeting solution to the Otis Redding Foundation to further the organization’s mission to bring music and arts education to a wider audience.
The system includes a webcam, HD television, Dolby® Conference Phone, and a cloud-based meetings platform from BlueJeans to connect the room with other people and locations. Not only will the system dramatically improve the Otis Redding Foundation’s meetings with board members, instructors, press, and others from across the country and globe, but it will also provide the chance for the Foundation to venture into the world of distance learning.
“The BlueJeans Room with Dolby Conference Phone gives us the opportunity to look at our programming in an entirely different way,” said Karla Redding-Andrews, executive director and vice president for the Otis Redding Foundation. “We have a strong focus on serving our community of Middle Georgia but have always wanted to be able to bring our incredible workshops and presentations to a larger audience of deserving children and future musicians outside of this region. Conversely, this will enable us to do more high-quality ‘visits’ from those amazing musicians and music industry professionals who want to speak to our students but are unable to fly to Macon for a visit. We have even already used the system to connect with high school students in Virginia, who interviewed myself and my mother, Mrs. Zelma Redding, for a school project.”
Plans also include integration with social media to live stream events from the Otis Redding Foundation’s student performances and partnering with other music education organizations to share programming opportunities.
“BlueJeans is thrilled to work with the amazing team at the Otis Redding Foundation to reach and inspire youth through education in music. Our meetings platform is engineered with unparalleled audio technology from Dolby, and we can’t think of a more discerning audience than musicians using our technology for remote lessons and music instruction,” said Rosanne Saccone, CMO BlueJeans Network. “It’s wonderful to see our technology help spread the joy of music to the next generation. A full audio and visual experience positively changes the way people work and communicate, similar to how music builds an emotional connection to people, places and events.”
“Dolby is proud to further the reach of the Otis Redding Foundation’s mission to bring music and arts education to a wider population through our technology,” said Andrew Border, Vice President, Communications Business Group, Dolby. “The Dolby Conference Phone along with the BlueJeans meetings platform will allow students to connect to musicians and industry professionals, bringing music and arts to today’s youth.”
Bringing together the BlueJeans platform with Dolby Conference Phone effectively addresses common challenges such as background noise, not knowing who's speaking, echo, people talking over one another, and uneven sound levels across environments. Combined, these technologies allow enterprises and individuals around the world to experience more productive video meetings.
The modern workplace is driving organizations to adapt to new approaches for communication and collaboration, such as huddle rooms and meeting pods, in support of a dynamic work culture that prefers simplicity and flexibility. BlueJeans Rooms with Dolby Conference Phone is a breakthrough in audio for online meetings, allowing attendees to hear clearly and communicate naturally, as if they were in the same room, regardless of where they are located or whether they connect from a mobile or desktop endpoint or room system. The BlueJeans meetings platform allows users to start, manage and share content using the touch screen on the phone instead of fumbling with remote controls and dongles.
