Celebrating 81 Years of Otis Redding
On September 9 and 10, 2022, the Otis Redding Foundation held a celebration for what would have been the 81st birthday of legendary musician, Otis Redding. The weekend of events started with a ceremonial groundbreaking for the future Otis Redding Center for the Arts, followed by An Evening of Respect and the Big “O” Homecoming Show, both which were tribute concerts featuring highly regarded artists from across the spectrum of music.

"Mr. Pitiful's Pilsner" Launch
On Thursday, September 7th, the Piedmont Brewery and Kitchen teamed up with The Otis Redding Foundation for an event to launch Mr. Pitiful’s Pilsner, a dry-and-crisp creation by Head Brewer David Fountain. Read more about the special beer offering.

Otis Redding Center for the Arts Groundbreaking
On Friday, September 9th, community leaders, supporters and media gathered in front of the future location of the Otis Redding Center for the Arts. The new center will be located blocks away from Otis Redding’s 1966 office on Cotton Avenue in downtown Macon, GA.

An Evening of Respect
On Friday, September 9th, guests and supporters joined the Otis Redding Foundation for An Evening of Respect Tribute Concert featuring GRAMMY Award winner Robert Glasper, GRAMMY-nominated artist Mickey Guyton, and Zach Wilson.

Big "O" Homecoming Show
On Saturday, September 10th, the Big “O” Homecoming Show featured a variety of artists, such as DKOMX, Reese Soul, Aläz, Kendra Morris, Monophonics and special guests, The War and Treaty. The tribute show is a callback to Otis Redding’s own Home Coming Show & Dance, held at the Macon City Auditorium throughout the 1960’s.
