Karla Redding-Andrews, daughter of Otis Redding and Executive Director of the Otis Redding Foundation, spoke on a panel preceding a recent Disney On Ice performance. The panel, during the “There’s a Princess Tiana in All of Us” event, included Taylor Terrell (Anchor, NBC 41), Verda Covin (Superior Court Judge, Macon Circuit Court), Elaine Lucas (Commissioner, MaconBibb District 3), Hope Martin (President of the Junior League), Soniah Spence (Princess Tiana, Disney On Ice) and Andi Biron (Marketing Director, Macon Telegraph).
About the Panel: “Princess Tiana representsthe best in a young woman – perseverance, courage, a kind heart, confidence in her gifts and intellect; and the ability to transcend labels and reach for her dreams. This event provides a forum for local Macon girls, from the Boys and Girls Club of Central Georgia, to learn from professional women in the spirit of Tiana’s story by way of an interactive panel discussion and Q&A. In addition to being successful professionals, these women are active community leaders who will discuss how they each found their special gifts and rose above barriers of self-esteem, gender, race and other personal anecdotal circumstances, encouraging the girls to do the same. Soniah Spence, who performs in the role of Princess Tiana, will also join the discussion for insights into her life and career, and fun facts about the show. The forum’s moderator is Taylor Terrell of NBC 41.”
