On Friday, April 28, the Redding Family was presented with the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings Award, honoring the family’s “strong dedication to and support for the arts, and by extension, for their community and its future.” Center Director Amy Schwartz Moretti and guest faculty member, conductor Ward Stare, presented the award to Karla Redding-Andrews, executive director of the Otis Redding Foundation, and daughter of Otis Redding. The award presentation took place at the last Mercer University Orchestra Concert of the season, with the students performing Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and a new piece, Divertimento for Strings, by composer Curtis Bryant. Both pieces were conducted by Ward Stare.
